Stewart has never been able to think of a joke besides "both sides bad." He should've stayed retired.

I guess a movement built on "one weird trick to ending capitalism!" not giving a shit about anything beyond vibes makes a lot of sense, but I genuinely wonder if this is how center-right folks felt during the rise of the alt-right / MAGA.

Remembering that “actuary” was on Graeber’s list of bullshit jobs really underscores what he meant was “I don’t understand what these jobs do so they must be fake.”

That’s a lot of hubris from a faux academic whose primary output was trite airport books!

Emotion, Divers, and Art Angels released, Trump still a joke, Game of Thrones still good, Star Wars sequels solidly in a "maybe this is going somewhere great" vibe. I yearn for 2015.

So for anyone who may think "Hm, I have a DiD/IV/RDD/etc. social science-y informatics paper with some possible policy implications, where should I send it?" I hope you'll keep HAS in mind.

My experience on faculty has certainly made the differences between TT and non-TT folks seem much smaller than it was in my mind as a student, but that may be more medical school specific where both groups are nearly entirely research focused rather than teaching.

Very dependent on the institution but non-TT folks occasionally work on 1 year renewable contracts which can induce more job security concerns, non-TT folks sometimes do not get to vote in academic governance matters (the UCs restrict academic senate to just TT-equivalent.) Maybe pay differences?

There's a fine line between "blue collar" and "my parents bought me a hobby farm" and as far as I can tell, Platner is closer to a tradwife influencer than someone doing wage labor.

"Working class" means wearing a t-shirt and having a beard, of course.

Good thing there are no recent politicians who garnered progressive accolades from their blue collar aesthetic but had limited political records and a history of questionable judgment. And if there were I’m sure we’re all thrilled with their time in office.

Both of these should be doable in a single set for a healthy adult with like… a few weeks of training at most. My lazy, maintenance mode workout has 4x25 sets of push-ups! Almost inconceivable how anyone who had the ability to prepare for this test would fail!
