I’ve never understood the argument against remakes. There is overwhelming evidence that not only are they often worthwhile but in plenty of cases surpass the original. Also, the original doesn’t magically disappear because a new version is made.

Many great movies. But even if his filmography was just Charley Varrick and then nothing but absolute shit, it would still be one of the greatest filmographies of all time.
