I loved the first game so much, but hit a game over quite early when trying the sequel. When I eventually give it another shot, I'll take it down to easiest difficulty, but from your video I assume I won't like it as much as the first game, which is fine. Good to temper expectations, at least :)

Awesome! My friend and I have been waiting for this :)

Another two converts join our ranks, eeeexcellent!

So, how did it go? :)

You're reading way too much into my words. Not once did I say anything about the writers; I know they did the best they could under the circumstances. I don't blame them at all.

I don't think those points are mutually exclusive, banking on loyal RPG fans for Dragon Age while also seeing Mass Effect as the more lucrative IP overall.
At any rate, saying that there's a queer vs straight angle going on between DA and ME is just silly in my eyes :)

Ah, my bad, I didn't catch that. I see what you're saying now :) there really are a lot of unfortunate consequences of this weird culture war that's infested the internet. One thing I miss the most is actually discussing things on a forum instead of short-form social media (apropos cap on posts)

For what it's worth, I appreciate how you handled that interaction :o)

Mass Effect is plenty queer, so I doubt that's a cause for their different statuses. More likely it's that action-shooter games are more mainstream, while RPGs are a niche genre that's harder for EA to sell. Or perhaps the ME devs just had better social connections with the EA suits, who knows.

I'm one of those disappointed long-time fans. The game world just didn't feel like it belonged as a sequel to Inquisition, or any of the previous games for that matter. It felt like mediocre fanfiction to me. I used to adore the world of Thedas and now it's replaced by apathy :(

It might just be that those silly people get more attention - we all know what the algorithms prefer to push on us. I very much disliked Veilguard, which managed to single-handedly ruin my favourite series for me, but it had nothing to do with Taash or having pronouns in my character creator.

Brian David Gilbert did a funny and catchy little song on this exact thing :P it's called "it's nesting season" on youtube if you're curious :)

Always happy to see Dan on the show :D

Good article - only thing missing was contrasting the many lay-offs mentioned at the end with how much money the people at the top are making. Some of the big publishers wouldn't even need to consider AI as a way to save money if their CEO's weren't so needlessly greedy.

I can see how it sucks when a series had done some great work in making the science behind it feel realistic, only to walk back on it. I think I'm just used to it (+ ignorant about the science in the first place :P) and more inclined to go along with it when it serves a cool narrative purpose :)

I mean, yeah, it probably falls apart if you look into it too much. I'm just thinking in terms of storytelling where we accept that crazy stuff happens :D I'm sure their writers can come up with a way to "sell it" so it feels believable :) they did well with the prologues in season 1, after all!

It's easily explained by spores simply being a later evolution in the TV series, isn't it? :)
