Of course, even if it would be totally fine legally to remove these rules, whether WotC actually allows it to occur is another matter. But I think it is far more WotC policy than what would actually happen in the real world. (2/2)

I think that there was a point in Magic's early history where being classified as gambling was a real risk. I do not think it a remotely real risk now. Flesh and Blood allows the buying and selling of PT invites and is legally classified as a game of skill in the notoriously strict Germany. (1/2)

Also to be clear, I acknowledge my first tweet was somewhat flippant and I in no way deny that it is a hard pronlem. But I do legitimately think the current collusion/bribery/improperly determining a winner rules broadly do more harm than good.

I think that in some cases taking the choice away from two consenting adults harms them both although the example you have presented is not great. I also think that while occurrences would rise in this world, I think some of what prevents collusion now is cultural norms that would still exist.

There is a very simple better system:
Legalize collusion, completely remove it from the IPG. The collusion rule serves exclusively to penalize newer players, everyone in the know can collude at will anyways. Might as well stop punishing those not in know.

Does the pope need to pick a papal name?

My preferred term is "preparation specialist" and I am fairly sure you are a player of my type.

I think by this logic, people should pay you to go to the movies. In general when something is fun people pay to do it and when its not people get paid to do it. Playing Magic at the highest level is very fun, I think it might be overcompensated.

Yes, I did not love the words they wrote about the cube.
October 24, 2025 at 7:09 AM
I don't think you are being unfair I think what you want is not very well aligned with what the public at large wants. I think the public at large doesn't want a creative new take on cube they want roughly the exact Vintage Cube experience they already have but on area.

I think it is at most a bit like playing a roguelike.

This might be a surprise to nobody but

I have no feelings of any kind for any format. My body is a machine that converts format knowledge to match points.

Challenges seem to melt away. Its hard prove Magic isn't in some way unique. But the Poker people thought they were unique too. And the Go People. And the Dota people. Smart money says probably your game of choice isn't unique either.
August 19, 2025 at 5:45 PM
My response would be the following:
Every game has some unique challenges. People thought AI couldn't solve team based games until it solved Dota or games with bluffing until it solved Poker. But at some point you have to zoom out and realize everytime a serious team actually makes an attempt these

I don't see the two as related. I enjoyed competitive chess for many years and computers were superhuman at chess the entire time. Why would how fun the game is to play and master be related to whether computers are good at it?
August 19, 2025 at 4:12 PM
My understanding is that there are superman AI poker players and have been for several years. What am I missing?
