I do seem to recall that getting lost was a feature of my visit. I have mixed feelings about Brutalism; when done well, it is definitely *doing* something, which I have to respect.

They could name the research vessels silly names! Compete with each other over who does a better job with the trains! Get people to actually like them; many of them seem to really want people to like them.

So that’s how, when I came back to Lettuce Knit the next time, the owner said, “You know, people keep asking about that shawl. If you wrote up the pattern, I could sell a lot of them.” And I did, and she did!

that I’d made it with ONLY ONE SKEIN of this hot new yarn. Someone caught a picture of the reaction: the person who asked about the shawl holding onto on end of it at staring at me in disbelief, and me laughing my head off. It was a really great picture, and it ended up on the blog, of course.
