The author and one of her books...

I chose to showcase Serpentus today because I love this book (I could say that about all of my books, but this is in my top 3 favorites of the 11 I've published.)

Here's a snippet from Exile for your Saturday.

Fun fact: I have had both a reader say this story is "too dark" and a review that said it was "not dark enough" in the last month.

It has dark moments, but I have never marketed it as being dark. Read it and decide for yourself...

Did you know Serpentus can be read as either a standalone/intro to my Relics of War series, OR as a supplement to it?

It's one of my favorite things I've ever written (despite its darkness.)

While I was writing The Caein Legacy, Rynn became one of my favorite side characters. She's an ice mage, and fiercely loyal to those she considers friends.

I redacted the name of the character she's interacting with in this snippet due to spoilers (but iykyk!)

Join the Willow Wraith book club this month for Far Removed!

(I have already read this book, and I loved it. I'm hoping others do too - and I'm eagerly awaiting for more people to experience a certain WTF moment midway through.)

MC's worst nightmare

Andrew (The Caein Legacy): Being unable to fight for/save those he loves

Kye (Wraith & the Revolution): Activation of the override codes

Owen (Serpentus): He lives through worse than his nightmares in the last half of the book😬

Help us choose next month's Willow Wraith book club title!

The poll is live over on GR, and the choices are:
Shadow Bane by Cal Logan
Far Removed by CB Lansdell (which I've read and loved)
and
Coward by Ayrton Silva (I've also read this one and loved it)

Guilt or Regret?

The Caein Legacy: I think Andrew experiences a little of both, but more guilt than regret.

Wraith & the Revolution: Regret. A lot of it.

The Fontayne Company (WIP): Zel *should* feel guilty for some of his pranks, but he doesn't 😅

Goosebumps or Point Horror?

I've never heard of Point Horror, but the Goosebumps books were just starting to be published when I was in 3rd/4th grade, and I read a few of them back then (I didn't keep up with it after a couple years...I moved on)

How would your MC react to a haunted house?

Zel from the Fontayne Company duology is the reason the house is haunted 🤣 And he'd play pranks on anyone who came to visit.

Kye from Wraith would go in hoping to be scared (he's into the horror genre)

Saturday snippet

I'm sharing the opening to Wraith & the Revolution today for 2 reasons.

The squid are featured in a story that will begin going out to my mailing list in November. And the story I wrote for The Book of Spores is also related to Wraith.😊

Free Friday / Share your Halloween plans

I will be at MileHi Con on Halloween (and the 2 days following) as part of their Author's Row. I'm excited for the event - and if the weather's okay, I might break out a costume too. We shall see.

Morally grey characters

Yes, please! I enjoy the morally greys - both as a reader and as a writer (I don't write them often, but it's always fun to experiment with them.)
