It’s worth considering the possibility that a primary function of our two party system is to keep the populace distracted; at each other’s throats fighting over social issues, while wealth continues to be siphoned upwards.

This feels an awful lot like a poker game where the far right has pushed all of their chips onto the table. They’re either going win or be knocked out of the game.
