I enjoyed using pen so much last time that I decided to try it again with a wildlife subject. This time I drew a Baltimore Oriole! I worked from a photo that was sent to me - this fellow was visiting some backyard bird feeders. Just like last time, nothing but a ballpoint pen and a sketchbook

Good morning! I took a photo of this fellow and the photo looked comically sad, so I tried to push that expression a bit and go for something of a caricature. I can assure you that he wasn't actually sad - he was a very sweet and gentle boy with naturally sloped eyes and a funny camera angle 😄

I tried something new and a little challenging. I tried pen! I drew a somewhat tough pose of an older cat (Old Man Tucker, he's called) stepping carefully into a tall cat bed. With the pen, it was easier for me to let lines lay where they landed instead of overthinking and changing and erasing.
