But like when you were making your interpretations before, you can still make fanfics/comics/etc about it. Develop that idea the way you want. Enjoy canon as much as you can and then choose to ignore it.

And of course there's nothing wrong with thinking "For me, this option is less interesting" or "I really wanted to watch a show about that kind of relationship".

But it was never meant to be that.

We are seeing a relationship where a victim knows his abuser is an abuser but can't leave him. This is something really common in real world.

And some people wanted a story about a victim who still cling to their love and to the idea that their abuser can change.

Angel is past that phase. He no longer excuses Val, he knows he is bad... But he can't leave him because of the contract.

This is a simplification. Of course his Big feeling are still there deep down, and it complicated for Angel, but the point it's this:

So, the thing is: a lot of people has/had the idea that Angel is in a toxic relationship where he loves Val but kowns that he is no good for him and has to fight hard to keep distances.

But I think Angel is in a different place.

In "Addicted" we Angel interacts with Val 3 times (I haven't seen It in a long time, so maybe I'm missing something): Angel teases him while dancing, he rejects Val and he forces Angel to kiss him, and Angel has a flashback of a sexual assault.

The videoclips show us how much Angel despises him.

Okey, I should start saying that I don't want to criticize anybody, that is okey to be upset if you don't like the way Angel's arc is developing.

I just saying how I see it and why I'm surprised. In fact, It would have been disconcerted if he would have go back to the tower without a big reason.

To put it simple: I think that, since the ver beginning of the show, Angel is aware that Valentino is a fucking monster and that's what we wanted to be away from him.
