Entry 1: Jolteon

I have waaaaay too much to say about Jolteon to fit in one message, but I will say it's the one 'mon that's been on almost all my teams, for good reason. I love it so much, I have a wall in my bedroom entirely dedicated to it. Electric doggo go zoom.

Entry 2: Chandelure

Ah, the 'mon I briefly stole the identity of. I became hyperfixated on Chandelure and to this day, it still inspires my aesthetic. It's spooky, it's cute, and it's surprisingly expressive. And I think that's good enough for me.

Entry 3: Lycanroc Midday

I sadly can't put my dog Ringo on this list, so this is the next best thing. I saw Rockruff and thought "This either becomes an edgy werewolf or a cool regular wolf" and I'm happy we got both. I feel for it the same way most people feel about red pandas and axolotls.
April 10, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Entry 4: Mudkip

Mudkip is the first 'mon I picked from personal feeling and unlock other starters, I can't bring myself to pick Treecko or Torchic because it feels wrong to not use Mudkip. Mudkip tops all 'mons in my favorite starter, Water type, and Gen 3 lists, and 3 is my favorite roster, so.

Entry 5: Hittmontop

I vibe with Hittmontop. It doesn't look strong but he's one of the most capable fighters, and as a trans woman self-conscious about her body, Hittmontop is very inspiring. Even the silly doofi of the world can have amazing things to offer.

Entry 6: Whimsicott

Whimsicott is both a fluffy little guy and a hell-sent miscreant, but every trollish element of its style is offset by its charisma. It's both super annoying and also impossible to be mad at. It's the energy I hope to embody someday. Cosy and cute, but harmlessly monstrous.
April 10, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Entry 7: Sharpedo

Sharpedo is very straight-forward in its concept. It's a shark torpedo and goes fast. It's the only Pokemon in existence that I knew that I immediately understood everything about as soon as I saw it.
April 10, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Entry 8: Registeel

I don't normally like using legendaries, especially since any Joe Shmo can will a Moltres onto their team if they're mad enough at a cactus, but Registeel is an exception. It taught me the importance of defensive play, and that's why it's my favorite legendary.

Entry 9: Gastrodon

If Furret is the 'mon where I closeted my love between walls of pseudo-objectivity, Gastrodon left cracks in those walls. I love my head-empty, sluggy boi. Two drastically different designs but no stat difference between them is also really fun. And it's competitively viable!
April 7, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Entry 10: Greninja

Greninja made me feel fulfilled in life for finally liking an insanely popular Pokemon. It's so full of personality, supposedly Sakurai wanted it in Smash before X/Y even came out.
April 7, 2025 at 1:09 AM
Entry 11: Torterra

I used to think "The coolest Pokemon design is an impossible question," but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that we have a thousand Pokemon and only one is Torterra. It's not the best (4x Ice weakness 😵) but it's still a really cool design and I love it for that.
April 5, 2025 at 3:13 AM
Entry 12: Aerodactyl

It's messed up it took this long for a Rock type to show up on this list, but Aerodactyl is worth it. It does what you need it to and even at almost 10 generations of Pokemon, it has remained the fossil to beat since day 1. Truly amazing.

Entry 13: Typhlosion

Typhlosion embodies what 6 year old me thought old me would look like: A person with fire for a back that horrified my 1st grade art teacher. Now one of my main self-insert OCs has a flaming back a-la Skullgirls, so take that teacher. I love this volcano honey badger.
April 3, 2025 at 4:58 AM
Entry 14: Furret

I used to closet my love of cute Pokemon because I thought I needed justification to call a Pokemon my fave, but Furret broke me from that mindset. It's the symbol of change for me with an adorable design, endless memeality, and infinite charm. It's cute and it needs nothing more.
April 3, 2025 at 4:56 AM
Entry 15: Vaporeon

It's not why you think. It used to be one of my least favorites, but it became another Iron Treads where it took me a bit to recognize its rizz. Even more than that, it's a nice bulky attacker. It's a vibe. Do what you want with general success and look cute in the process.
April 3, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Entry 16: Mimikyu

I was surprised to find it's actually not Gen 7's Pikaclone, but I think that's why so many people love it. It's not only a great Pokemon, it has actual character too. Largely defined by what it's not, it's all the more special for what it is.
April 3, 2025 at 4:47 AM
Entry 17: Ninjask

Another glass pizza, but where Cacturne is sauceless, Ninjask is drowning in it. It's not the fastest, but also yes it is. When I want to put bugs in someone's brain, (which is often) Ninjask is my go-to.
April 3, 2025 at 4:43 AM
Entry 18: Cacturne

I've probably made a niche selection of people very happy with this one. It's green, it's spooky, it has a cool hat. Speed is the sauce of the glass cannon pizza, but even though we're sauceless, in the right context, it can be great. I'd go Moltres hunting with Cacturne any day.
April 3, 2025 at 4:41 AM
Entry 19: Salamence

My #1 fave pseudo-legendary, Salamence reigns supreme in my mind. It's one of the most dragon-looking Dragon types in the whole franchise and the first I successfully EV trained.
A bonus fact: A lot of people think it and Flygon were name-swapped, but they actually weren't!
April 3, 2025 at 4:38 AM
Entry 20: Gourgeist

I think Gourgeist was the first 'mon I ever made part of my personality. I was the girl that was just "the Gourgeist lover." It's still part of my current aesthetic. The size changing thing might be a gimmick, but I think it's a fun gimmick.
April 3, 2025 at 4:35 AM
Entry 21: Metagross

Nah, I think he's Metabeautiful. I don't think anyone actually dislikes him. He's peak for sure, with there being little he can't deal with at least a little bit. Not my favorite pseudo-legendary, but still a very very good Pokemon.
April 3, 2025 at 4:32 AM
Entry 22: Umbreon

Umbreon taught me that not every Pokemon has to be a bulldozer. Some are better at simple defense or support. It's one of my top 3 favorite Eeveelutions too! I don't have much else to say on it.
April 3, 2025 at 4:30 AM
Entry 23: Araquanid

I've been waiting for a fully-evolved Water/Bug since Surskit fumbled the bag. It's not as cute as Galvantula or as cool as Golisopod, but it has its own weird charm. Its signature ability may as well read "Araquanid will beat senseless every bum-ass baby in the battle."
April 3, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Entry 24: Starmie

Starmie can do and is really great at pretty much everything. It's not the best, but it took 7 generations since I first got it for it to get knocked off my go-to team. I'm hoping to see it in Gen 10 some day.
April 3, 2025 at 4:20 AM
Entry 25: Decidueye

From an adorable squishy birb to a Ghost ranger or Fighting ronin, I've loved Decidueye since it first came out. It's two of my favorite archetypes in one special little bird. Thank the stars for Unite and Pokken existing, cause it can at least kick ass in those.
