for research, experiments, and new institutions that don’t fit existing categories - but should exist

we're setting out to fund the important work before its legible

meanwhile, i kept running into people with actually interesting ideas - but no obvious place to take them

ideas that are too speculative for VC, too interdisciplinary for academia, too early for philanthropy

over the course of my sabbatical i felt uncomfortable in bio/tech bc of the reduction of every human problem to a tech or engineering problem
