What you say is true. And yet a significant enough portion of the US population STILL looks at that man, and that party, and would vote for him again. That is the problem.
November 16, 2025 at 10:53 PM
It's not simply a strong dislike of Trump. It's questioning the country that could re-elect him and a party that unapologetically and enthusiastically supports and defends him.

Democratic messaging should be so easy on this: "Bring it on. And if Clinton, Obama or anyone's name is related to criminal wrongdoing involving minors we will champion their prosecution because we are not the party of pedophiles."

Maybe "most". For us, the boycott started on Election night 2024. We haven't crossed since our last dinner trip in late October. Well before talk of annexation, tariffs, ICE, etc.

Thank you for saying what needed to be said. The return for Hughes only shrinks the closer we get to next summer. Finding out in August he won't extend is too late. And it's not like we've won anything in possession of his generational talent.
November 8, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Only problem is they have extended a core with a lot of no-trade protection (a core that hasn't really achieved anything) so this is what we get to watch for the next 5 years.
November 7, 2025 at 5:27 PM
I have to think 1.75 years of Hughes is worth more on the market than 1.3 (trade deadline) or 1.0 (next summer after he doesn't extend). If the trade was before Christmas I would think it would return a top 6 forward, a blue chip prospect and some picks.
November 7, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Saw you on S&P last night and couldn't tell if he was kidding, but would love your thoughts (in a column) on potentially trading Hughes and what the diminishing return would be based on time left on contract. I don't think he's extending so am pro-exploring possible returns.

Agree. Those who leave office early (other than medical) however should face some form of penalty.

I can't be the only Canucks fan who is looking at the product right now, aware that we locked in this core for basically the next 5-7 years (so they will only get older) and is very unenthused about the teams prospects to compete over that span. Tough to get excited about years of "this" ahead.

I do think I misinterpreted your scorecard (thought it was a running total). You're actually under par using golf as a metaphor (with only one blow-up hole to this point). Those are the killers.
November 4, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Your daily word counts are reminding me of my golf game: Bogey on 1? I'll make it up next hole. Triple on 2? That's ok, just need a few birdies to get right back on track. Double on 3? No problem. That birdie train from 4-10 will have me back at par in no time. And on. And on. Until I card a 92.

I think it depends on what you are playing. You don't want too much field of view on some games. Bigger for Age of Empires II? Sure. Bigger for Rainbow Six Siege? Maybe not.

He also said that the ad was fake and Reagan was pro-Tariff so...
October 31, 2025 at 6:01 PM
That's a fair distinction.

Just the OT?
October 31, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Would never be done in this market but...if someone looked at what a Hughes return with 1.75 years left would be and how that return could be leveraged to reshape the roster. A deeper team with a 2 year-ish cup window for example but missing an elite D man.

Should have been the choice from the start.

Makes sense taking a guy known for his speed and putting him between...well...not speedy wingers

How is this not a publicly owned and administered site? Any maintenance or alteration should have to go through some sort of non-partisan committee who administers this. No?

**got my halves mixed up.

Or at the very least enforced as it is written in its totality and not cherry picking the first half while ignoring the second.

Who continue to poll near 40%. It's a problem.

Can already hear the Conservative messaging about costs going up for the average Canadian due to the "Carney Tariffs".
