Main interest is Scottish independence.

For: Liberty, equality, inclusivity, sociability.

Against: British establishment, monarchy, class system, fptp electoral system, political patronage, Lords.

I'd rather be a European citizen than a British subject.
Can you magine the SNP using their 'preferred' unofficial figures and the BBC *not* challenging them?
There's the bias. It's easy for the BBC to rationalise any given position, it's when you imagine what their position and rationalisation would be if the SNP and Lab/Con/etc situation was switched.

What Green votes stand for and how they are used is Greens responsibility.

It's not up to the SNP to determine what they will do with Green votes.

Why what?

Has anyone asked the Greens about this? Wouldn't it be for them to promote this policy?

By my calculation, on my tariff, 19.7TWh is £4billion.

Will that be cash or card, sir?

Do you believe the processes that gave both New Zealand and Ireland their independence from the UK wasn't nationalism?

That's all Scottish nationalism is.

They can stick their Britcard up their union jacksie.

It's already offensive enough to have "British" on my passport and a union flag on my driving licence.

Personally, I think being obsessed with independence is more attractive than a fettish of submission to another country.
Just saying.

That's only true if you assume they will follow the 'rules'. Optimistic assumption methinks.

I won't believe it till they write it on the side of a bus.

Just the usual WM weasle words. I.e. who decides "if the Scottish people want a second referendum"? Oh yeah, that'll be WM.
And why only a "second" referendum?
He still wants Scotlands future tightly controlled by WM, otherwise he would support devolving the power to call such referenda.

Likewise. Until there is another candidate on the ballot paper I believe would work *with* SNP to achieve independence rather than against them to achieve their own political ends, it'll be SNP 1&2 from me.

Maybe Gabriel could provide a similar list of what UK parties have done for Scotland over a similar period. Then everyone could take an informed view of which has been better for the Scottish people.

Maybe it would be better if Yorkshire Water performed as well as Scottish Water and reinvested profits back into the company rather than giving them to greedy execs & shareholders. Just a thought.

Aye, right.

If there are no nuclear plants in Scotland, there would be no legitimate excuse for 'disposing' this sh1t in Scotland.

Maybe he's angling for a job as seagull scarer. Running around flapping his arms and making a noise seems very suited to his qualifications and experience. He is going to be looking for a new job soon anyway.

I agree, but my point was, at this moment, right now, there is no real plausible alternative to both votes SNP. I think indy is a secondary consideration for the Greens, if that. More of a bargaining chip they will use for their own objectives. The rest are nowhere.
April 11, 2025 at 8:40 AM
It's claimed upto 30% of Scottish Lab voters favour indy. It's often said as soon as indy is won there would be an election for people to vote for truly independant Scottish parties.
If this new Scot Lab party (indy manifesto) was created now, it'd make a plausible alternative to both votes SNP.
