I think the funniest part is that the main source for the word count is a RobWords video, in which is even says it's innacurate because some of those are typos of standard words.

It is hard to use the language for a newcommer.
It is easy to learn the language for the purposes of reading text for a newcommer.
February 8, 2026 at 12:14 AM
I mean for a newcommer.
February 7, 2026 at 11:39 PM
It is easy to learn.
It's not easy to use, or master.
But it has easy rules.

My take is that we should start thinking and talking about Toki Pona as an actual language, and not as a toy.
We should aim to be less "Toki Pona is cool because is has cool features" and more "Toki Pona has cool songs and stories, you should read them, it's easy to learn."
But that means creating.

Because for newcommers, it's *not* a language, it's a toy.
And to sell a toy you need to advertise it.
That's how you end up with so many "speakers", and so few people able to hold a conversation, and so little actual content for it.

Technically she says that you do not endorse the book as the creator of Nimi ale pona v2. Which then puts into question if her quoting you saying she's a cool lady and that you think people should buy Pu counts as her claiming you endorse her...
February 6, 2026 at 3:59 PM
I don't think it is even legal, since it constitutes a false endorsement claim. By making you an "author" of the book, this implied you agreed with the content, which is illegal according to the FTC.

Oh and the only reason the message isn't on Reddit anymore is because I had to report it.
February 4, 2026 at 9:09 PM
Oh hey, she blocked me too
Ain't it fun
She must not have liked that I called her out in private for using the N-word on Reddit

second attempt was more fruitful, but idk if there was any real "language" considering the only two words were "aaa" and "bbb"
February 1, 2026 at 3:34 AM
Ok well after some experimentation trying to put 2 AIs in a haggle war, there are two conclusions I can say:
1) most words in the communication are meaningless, the only thing that matters is that they consistently use a tally system to denote numbers
2) the buyer is DUMB and keeps accepting higher

It depends what you mean by conlang and what restrictions you put on the machine
I think the best way to create emergent language in machines would be to force an interaction between two agents who both want to reach some goal, and have the ability to exchange data with no prior knowledge

there are trans people who are *not* trans allies lol
January 31, 2026 at 7:13 PM
personally I rarely stick to hard rules, and tend to go with whatever works best / makes the most sense for the context
which is toki pona's philosiphy anyway so it works itself out in a nice way

I want to have faith in people changing for the better but I have to admit this one is challenging it
January 30, 2026 at 2:54 PM
Oh yeah absolutely, but we're at a point where we need to meet her at her standard before we can get her to admit any wrong
January 30, 2026 at 2:51 PM
I meant it in the sense it might help with your mental serenity to not have to read everything she says all the time
But obviously it does allow her to evade responsibility

The modern calendar is officially not Jesus-related anymore, it's defined as the "Common Era" and made to be compatible with the most widespread calendar up to that point.
Also you are imposing the Hebrew calendar on someone without asking them, so you are still breaking the norm you set.

The fact it is specified it was in the morning kind of set me off into thinking she saw your edit and decided to disregard it.
But that's purely speculative.
January 30, 2026 at 2:41 PM
Honestly, it might be better that way
