Exploring solutions to create a permanent galactic record of humanity to last for eons after we are gone.

We are the ancient ones. We are alone. But our history must not be.

Aion: Eternal, infinite
Codex: Book, knowledge
The news from K2-18b has everyone dreaming: alien oceans, plankton skies, life beneath a red dwarf. It’s 124 light-years away, but our imaginations are already there.
This is what humans do — we wonder.

Scientists find promising hints of life on distant planet K2-18b
Scientists find new but tentative evidence that a faraway world orbiting another star may be home to life.

What legacy do we owe the stars? A monument to our triumphs—or a confession of our flaws? As we encode humanity’s story for the distant future, we walk a tightrope between honest memory and aspirational myth. This is a central question the Aion Project seeks to untangle.

Most talk about "the future" is shallow. Policy cycles. Product cycles. Legacy planning for kids. The Aion Project exists to ask a harder question: What does it take to build for the kind of future that outlasts civilization itself? This requires what we call the Epochal Mindset.

Rather than constantly broadcasting, interstellar beacons would be more efficient if they fired in rare, concentrated bursts—perhaps only every few years. A deadman's switch design makes sense too: as long as civilization endures, there's no need for them to activate.

1/ Across history, civilizations built grand monuments to reflect their values. Yet today, we fear cultural decline—our art, knowledge, and ideals feel more ephemeral than ever. What if the answer isn’t in the past, but in the stars?

1/ Mars has captured the public’s imagination thanks to SpaceX and talk of colonization. But the MOON will be humanity’s real first step toward a presence beyond Earth. It will be our launchpad for deeper space exploration, and will be home to our first extra-planetary monuments.

In 2017, astronomers spotted ‘Oumuamua—a strange, fast-moving object with an odd shape & unexplained acceleration. No evidence suggests it’s an alien craft, but its mystery made us wonder: what if we intentionally sent an interstellar message meant to be found? 🚀

On the winds of war, a new moment of self reflection, our first distant view of ourselves.

OTD in 1947 American scientists launched a V-2 rocket which captured these first pictures of Earth taken from greater than 100 miles altitude. 🧪

Two lunar landings a few days apart, a remarkable race to return to our beautiful silver satellite. The Blue Ghost lander returned an iconic video of the landing, blowing a halo of moon dust to the stars, while the Athena lander fell short despite best efforts.

Humans have long cherished time capsules—sealed messages from our past that offer a unique glimpse into our culture, dreams, and identity. They remind us where we came from. #TimeCapsule #Heritage

Arthur C. Clarke’s Rendezvous with Rama (1973) redefined cosmic exploration by envisioning the discovery of a mysterious alien relic gliding through our solar system. Its bold vision ignited imaginations at the idea of discovering the mysteries of an ancient alien race. #RendezvousWithRama

Curious where an off-world Monument Ark built to by humanity might one day stand and be discovered by future visitors? Let’s explore three cosmic candidates beyond Earth that combine safety, stability, and timeless wonder. 🚀✨ #futureofspace #CosmicWonder #spaceexploration

Building monuments & data arks on the Moon and Mars isn't just about legacy—it’s about pushing space technology forward. These extreme projects will demand new innovations in materials, construction, and power, paving the way for future exploration.

We are the ancient ones. One day, distant explorers may find the remains of our civilization scattered across the Solar System. What messages should we leave behind? Humanity must build beacons, data arks, and monuments beyond Earth—to endure for eons. 🧵👇

I hope we will be able to keep the ISS and Tiangong in orbit in perpetuity. One day both should become orbiting museums.

In 1977, NASA launched the Voyager probes, each carrying a Golden Record—a time capsule of Earth, meant for any extraterrestrial finders. A message of who we are, where we live, and what we dream of. A bold, cosmic hello. 🌌🔊

Imagine if it had been real.

It still can be, if we decide to build it.

To assume we are the first intelligent life in the galaxy is arrogant. To act as if we are is prudent.
