When Ascian involvement was first revealed, I figured Calyx was going to be used and discarded because his idea of survival clashes with the Ascians', but she seems to at least make an effort to be pleasant to work with (which is more than can be said of him).

I've seen people attribute her behaviour to (justifiable) anxiety at being faced with a notorious predator of one's kind but LOL, that looked 1000% like fangirl energy.
