Yesterday I returned from a 5-day Plum Village retreat at Stirling University. I met so many lovely people including six very joyful monastics. Even though I had a toothache throughout the retreat, I was able to enjoy practicing with new friends, and received the Five Mindfulness Trainings.

Finally got my copy of The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong after having it on preorder since October!

I saw this fly looking tired in my office, so I fed it sugar water. I thought it was a bee, but it turned out to be a tapered drone fly, whose larva lives in sewage. I briefly felt regret and disgust for helping it, but then realised it’s good practice of non-discrimination. 🦟 no mud no lotus.

I have just been offered an allotment which ‘needs work’. The previous person hoarded lots of materials that need to be disposed of and it’s super overgrown. Any tips for getting started with an allotment? #allotment #garden
