Community x stories = sacred vessels for collective liberation.
In May, ALL #mutualaid yoga $ goes right to orgs protecting undocumented youth and Palestinian families: Super Familia King County & The Sameer Project.

Just one way to ritualize our freedom as interconnected & inspire our community to see ourselves in each other, no matter the perceived distance.

we're all we got, but the good news is: community is everything. back in feb, i started teaching a monthly #mutualaid yoga class. so far, we raised $1,965 for wildfire relief for LA's open-air workers, life-sustaining aid in Gaza, trans rights, and immigrant rights. community care is hope in action.

recently ended an important conversation by talking about the profound n everyday beauty of pigeons. the person i spoke with strongly shared this sentiment. i nearly walked away with hope in humanity.

And it’s more common than anyone wants to acknowledge or process.
Most people grow up and realize their parents were right, but one of the most soul-crushing things about having truly bad parents is growing up and realizing YOU were right. That you've been flying solo your entire life. Should feel like vindication, but tastes like ultimate defeat.

the number of large(r), well-funded tech orgs I experience and see hiring contractors to escape full-time employee benefits, comp, and care is ... extremely gross

Nothing like navigating unemployment with a chronic illness to remind me: Community. Is. Everything.

“i hope you’re doing alright”

- a eulogy to optimism, where i feel a profound, embodied truth that none of us are doing “well”

that’s not to say i don’t have hope. i practice hope and doing _good_ as a discipline, as @prisonculture.bsky.social put it

best practice that's really a sometimes practice: "show, don't tell." been loving storytellers who tell me what they want me to take away. imo there are no reliable narrators, which complicates things, and that's beautiful. PAUL TAKES THE FORM OF A MORTAL GIRL by andrea lawlor is a fav example. 🍒

we are so far from "done" fighting for collective liberation. in the most urgent + enduring way, it never ends. today, here's what's on my mind + in my action: how will we (help each other) heal? how will we refuse + unravel roots that brought us here? let's never abandon each other. never relent.
“When a ceasefire is announced, I will just run. No one ask me where. I myself don’t even know. I will just run, and run.

…the important thing is to arrive at a quiet place: a place that allows me to weep for a long time.”

been working on something major. the list of things that fueled me here are gorgeous, chaotic. there could be no other way. ex: tuna salad, noname, great bad wine, ethel cain, my red-knit beret, day-to-day rage at <waves hand towards world>, and more tuna salad.

as @vessel-markings.bsky.social and I wade through caretaking labyrinths, it's clear that surviving as a low-income elder sometimes feels impossible. we're also getting to know the heartbreaking taboo and need for "dying a 'good' death" — and just how hard our current systems make that.
