The Crown gave itself this burden and has continued to fail to live up to its own laws. The recognition of “existing Aboriginal and Treaty Rights” in section 35 of the constitution act, 1982, upholds the Royal Proclamation and the Treaty of Niagara as foundational documents to Canada’s sovereignty

The Crown did just that all the way to the Rockies and then just … didn’t in BC (except treaty 8 in north east and small parcels purchased on Vancouver Island through the Douglas Treaties). Colony of BC admin hand waved it away, claimed the land question was dealt with at the time of confederation.

The difference is the British Crown gave itself the responsibility to negotiate treaties with First Nations through the recognition of these nations as sovereign in the Royal Proclamation of 1763 and the Treaty of Niagara while the Westphalian peace recognized each other’s territorial sovereignty.

It’s Lennard Joe, not Joel. He’s a member of shackan Indian band, part of the Nlakapamux nation. He works for the First Nations forestry council, not stuwix. stuwix is owned by 8 First Nations and manages First Nations forestry licences. To characterize stuwix as “his” company is wildly misleading.
