I give out cookies to kids at work and I always try to talk to them for a moment. And today some kids gave me cookies they made out of clay as a token of appreciation. I feel like I just won an award

Not a translated work, but I wanted to pass along the book I’m reading right now. It’s a new fantasy series inspired by Turkic and Kurdish cultures. I’m really enjoying it so far and it’s my first fantasy that isn’t Europe-inspired.

I just got a great haul from the Barnes and Noble Kino Lorber sale and I feel like cackling like a greedy king. So many silent films I’m so excited.

I’m watching Mana Ka Ma (2013) on Kanopy and I found @themountaingoats.bsky.social. There’s goats going up this mountain! Can’t believe they made your band name come true it’s a miracle.

I just did a double feature of films set (at least partly) in Texas that are commentaries on America. On what we idealize and our reality and how those conflict and influence each other.

I came across the most insane Facebook Marketplace listing I’ve ever seen. How does this even happen? Is this real? Should I buy some? How many? What do I do with them? These are the questions I’ve been pondering for hours now.

I just watched Junta Yamaguchi’s River (2023) and fell in love with it. I love time loops and this was just the perfect snow day watch. It’s such a cozy wonderful film full of chaos and sincere emotion and some truly wonderful music. I highly recommend it

If you watch films like a child you’ll have the taste of a child.

Also I have gone back and found every film I can remember seeing and marked it as watched and I’m actively trying to reduce the percentage that fall into the family category and it’s taking forever.

Indie film recommendation time!
I watched Quantum Cowboys (2022), directed by Geoff Marslett and omg I loved it. It’s actually quantum, not some Ant-man BS. Deals with time travel and possibilities. Stars Lily Gladstone, David Arquette, & Patrick Page. Uses multiple animation styles in cool ways.
