Jennifer Paxton's "The Celtic World" from Great Courses takes as one of its two or three core stories the modern era discovery of the connection between modern Celtic languages and the Gauls, etc. and its concomitant investigation and mythologizing of that connection.

(We don't actually have a police department, we have an integrate Department of Public Safety whose employees are trained as police, firefighters, and EMTs. But it's the worst among cities in CA that have that set up.)

Yeah ... I have multiple spreadsheets and an infographic of InCryptid. Partly because I ran a tabletop campaign in the world for a while many years ago, but mostly because I have a low saving throw vs infographic and automatically fail saving throws vs spreadsheet.

I mean yes, but—the Penric books incorporated the ideas for the Father's and Mother's books into them. At least Oswyl the grayjay is definitely the realization of Bujold's original idea for the Father's book, and I assume Penric's medical stories are cannibalized from the Mother's book.
