After the storm

A local anti-cycle lane Tory Councillor said (if they gain control of Enfield Council) “We would remove the floating bus stops, because they’re extremely dangerous for the elderly, disabled, in particular the blind.” Bold, considering the very many historic non-cycle lanes ones in his ward 🤔

My estate car! It's almost 24 years old (so I qualify for classic car insurance next year 🥳) and, although I try to avoid driving it very much these days when there are more sustainable options, it's been a real family asset over the years. I really look after and maintain it though!

It's pretty straightforward, you just describe what you see. You can adjust your settings so that it will prompt you to add it before you can post a photo.
E.g.

Is a short zebra crossing traversing a cycle-lane (used by lighter, slower 'vehicles') more dangerous than much longer ones crossing main roads used by lorries and other heavy fast-moving traffic? Because I don't see many people making much of a fuss about those tbh!

I can't claim credit for the term but it is a significant factor in the increase in fatalities following collisions.
A paragraph from the Wikipedia definition of autobesity stating: Reduced road safety, as heavier vehicles have greater kinetic energy, and taller vehicles are more likely to strike pedestrians in the head and torso, or even not be able to see small children who are below the driver's line of sight.[9][10] Additionally, larger vehicles are more likely to hit pedestrians when turning due to poorer visibility.[11][12] Vehicles with higher front ends and blunt profiles are 45% more likely to cause fatalities in crashes with pedestrians than smaller cars and trucks.[7] Pedestrian fatalities increased by 57% between 2013 and 2022.

I'm unsure if it was the smallest but a village near where I grew up, Bruckless, County Donegal, Ireland has a population of just 69 people. It had a train station from 1893 until 1960. There's been no train service in the entire county since 1965.
