Esitelmät käsittelivät paitsi itse käsikirjoitusta, myös keskiaikaisia hylkeennahkasidoksia, joista on ollut paljon puhetta viime aikoina. Seminaarin päätti Matthew Collinsin huikea esitys biokodikologian mahdollisuuksista ja kodikologian roolista biomolekulaaristen humanististen tieteiden airuena.

Tiistaina tuli ex tempore seurattua etäseminaaria Norjan kansalliskirjaston hankkimasta Hagenesin koodeksista. Kyseessä on hylkeennahkakantinen (taas!) graduale-otteita sisältävä erillisvihko, jossa poikkeuksellista materiaalin lisäksi keskiaikainen sidos ja säilyvyydeltään harvinainen formaatti.

In addition to the codex itself, there was a lot of discussion about sealskin covers in medieval books – the subject of much recent attention. The seminar was concluded by an absolute banger by @matthewcollins.bsky.social envisioning codicology leading the way to biomolecular humanities.

Another interesting feature is the small format. Despite the fragmentary state, could this be a dossier collected for singing specific parts of the liturgy? These are rare among extant Nordic medieval liturgical books and fragments, since larger formats were preferred in preservation and recycling.
