Coming soon

I sat down with @jeremysmith.co
for what I thought would be 90 minutes.

Four hours later, we were still talking.

We talked about building products no one's buying, choosing family over money, and what it means to be a "nurturer" in tech.

The Expert Bench -Episode 2

Had an issue building 2FA with Rails ActiveRecord encryption. For some reason it worked well in dev, staging & not in prod.
I blame docker :)

Now it works, every Rails Expert can enable 2FA using their favourite auth app and it would create 10 backup codes 🥳

Semantic html elements should work without utility classes, even in browser native dark/light mode.

The expert who solves your problem in 2 hours because they've seen it 100 times? They're worth more, not less.

Sometime ago, I announced that I was working on a platform for Rails Experts. It's almost ready, and I've been making solid progress.

Experts can build their profile, add their expertise, create their offerings, and manage their inquiries.

def edit
render :edit, layout: "dashboard"
end

🤔 Rails question: This works perfectly, but I can't find this pattern in the Rails guides!!!

Has anyone used action + layout in a single render call before? It works as intended, but wondering if it's considered best practice!

⚠️ TailwindCSS has a common issue relates to how it generates CSS classes. For example it generate some classes in dark mode & not in light mode.

✅ Solution, use the safelist (v3.tailwindcss.com/docs/content...) option to add all needed classes in "tailwind.config.js"

Majority of Rails community on Reddit will block and ban x/Twiiter links. While i still post there sometimes (much less than before), I'm glad that I stopped supporting 'his' blue badge.
It is better over here 😊

It seems a project's git has been corrupted 😖
Not sure what to do!!!

I asked AI for help, and it showed me 2 options.
I never heard or read about "Nuclear Option" 💣☢️

Have anyone done the "Nuclear Option" before? Or there is a much peaceful way to git history back?

was asked: "How would you make sure you list true experts ?" Or "What makes your platform standout"?

There are 2 stages need completion before expert's profile and offerings get published.

1- Profile completion. Professional details must to be completed. 👇🏼

Offerings index will show all published ones(expert can publish/un-publish their offerings). Easy search & filter for leads/business to see offerings in a specific part of #Rails. Now time to waste or ask around.
Rails specialist get vetted before publish offering

Working on the 'coming soon' page for Rails Expert project. Here is initial design.

I want it's content to have a clear and simple communication and provide real values.
Is it helpful?

I bought a domain name to publish this page soon🤫

I've added a Date picker(range) component to demo its behaviour. It includes 8 Rails FormBuilder methods.

✅ Single template & class
✅ Stimulus for interactivity
✅ No JavaScript dependencies
✅ Easy integration with forms "f.rui_date()"

Something is cooking 🧑🏼‍🍳

An idea has been sitting in my head, buzzing 🐝, simmering 🥘, and fermenting for months. A few days ago, I got it out of my head, and the cooking process has started.

Re-learned or reminded self of something today.
When a test fails, I can add some debugging output to the test case to see what errors are occurring.

Is it a valid or a good way to debug Ruby / Rails tests?

Date picker almost there. It covers all of Rails date + time FormHelpers and more. Data range, years & decades jump to, presets…etc. One Stimulus controller.
The best part is, seamless integration with Rails form.

The new textarea component has character counter built in. It comes with 3 variants: numbers, vertical (aka progress bar) and circle, similar to @bsky.app style, celebrating my first post here 👋🏼

Oh variants, as @konnorrogers.com said, just one more variant…and another one…😀
