"Undertow": A man in a contemporary home lies with his feet up on the back of a couch and his head under a coffee table. Objects--a laptop, books, writing utensils--are arranged neatly on the tabletop. Large windows at the back of the room give a view to an empty, blue and yellow sky. "Hold the Line": Nighttime in a desert. A desi woman wearing shalwar kameez sits cross-legged facing away from the viewer, contemplating a portal. Fragments of broken architecture--one column supported by a tree growing around it--and objects associated with the arts surround her. A piano and a nagara; a shelf of books and a journal; headphones and a discman; an easel and a camera; a lectern and a theatre mask. A spear is propped up behind the easel. An indeterminate light source casts shadows on the sand. "Chai and Company": A brown man sits on the ground in an alcove by a tall window with a pointed arch. Patterns of light shine through the intricate window lattice, falling on the man and the wall behind him. "Twist": A contemporary bedroom, with the walls cut away for a view onto a void: tilted pathways alongside empty doorways float in space, their red color suggesting something organic despite the sharp architectural lines. At right, a woman sits on a desk chair in a contemplative posture, framed by a floating window frame and in a patch of light. At left, another woman steps off the stairways in the void and through the open doorway of the bedroom.
