When Molloy realized the record for tennis balls held at one time was only five, she decided to submit Finley to Guinness World Records. Finley beat out Augie (a Golden Retriever who set the previous record in 2003), was awarded the title, and hosted a garden party to celebrate.⁣

“My dad would throw him a tennis ball, he’d catch it, drop it, then wait for my dad to throw another,” said his owner, Erin Molloy. “Rather than bringing just one ball back to my dad, he brought back all six! He’s been a ball hoarder for quite some time now!”⁣⁣

In Fontana’s portrait, she appears with six of her children, likely the only six still living at the time: five sons and a daughter. ⁣

The portrait remained in private hands for over 400 years, but was acquired by The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in 2024 and put on public display.
