End of cruise! After two weeks mapping seamounts in the Indian Ocean we arrived in Cape Town. Thank you Lara Atkinson and all the team onboard OceanXplorer for contributing to this collaborative effort to map deep-sea life @challenger150.bsky.social

Entering the final week of the Around Africa Expedition!
So far, we’ve mapped and sampled two seamounts in the Indian Ocean. The expedition is organized by OceanQuest, OceanX, and NFR-SAEON and is a direct contribution to the UN Ocean Decade Programme @challenger150.bsky.social

What a fantastic and diverse team of women researchers, staff, and crew members on board OceanXplorer on the Around Africa Expedition. Couldn’t find a better way to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

We had our first dives yesterday: ROV and submersibles went down to explore Walters Schoal. @uaveiro.bsky.social PhD student Bibiana had a great first dive in submersible Neptune!
