Yep, that is a major concern of mine. Don't plan to use that feature everywhere because of that. Only in places where I would want the player to be disoriented. I just love the idea of a 'living' dungeon and thought it would be a fun way to play with.

Wouldn't say it was an inspiration but making exploration similar to something like House of Leaves. Sometimes, if you turn back, you may end up in an entirely different location from where you started. I'll keep the game more traditional most of the time but I like having those features.

My bad, need to start proofreading things before I post.

The way I have dungeon floors set up it will also allow the dungeons to change as you play (shifting rooms and hallways) in some places. Wrote all the code in C++ and plan to use SDL3 once I get to the game part.

In these examples if it near totally random, but I have a good amount of control over it and can also make an exact hand made room if I felt like it. I'll add some alt text on attached images if you want to know the specifics of how those were made.

For now, here's a couple early dungeon rooms that I've generated. I've been focusing on dungeon generation exclusively for a while, though I have a lot of other design documents floating around. All were generated with the same parameters.

I near exclusively observe, rarely interact with anyone. Just want to say that I love your work and it's some of my favorite material that I've seen come out of the community. My experience is limited, but I've seen/interacted with nothing but kind individuals and I don't see why you wouldn't be.
