Living in the bush up the valley from Mullumbimby. Teach Taiji and Bagua. Play Shakuhachi. Studying Japanese (again!). Making progress this time with NativShark. Gave away close to a dozen copies of Braiding Sweetgrass to family and friends.
Yes, they just wanted my email address. Thanks

Unfortuantely, there is a paywall up for this article. Could you provide a synopsis?

I'm 79, I am in good shape for my age but I still have a lot of dealings with the Medical system. To have to worry about paying high sums for private health insurance or being forced to put off going to a doctor until things get really bad is something that would add great stress to my life.

yes, Libby is a wonderful service. I'm a member of our Friends of the Library. Libby are limited in their selection. Fortunately, I'm able to splash out once a month.

I immigrated to Australia from the US in 1986. I was treated for prostate cancer in 2019. The total out of pocket was $1500.00. That included travel and accommodation for several visits to Sydney. I could not afford to reside in the US if I wanted to.

" Learn Japanese: Sensei" by Tae Kim for really strong grounding. It is linked to Benkyo . "Kana School" is a simple app for learning the kana. "Learn Japanese! - Kanji" app lets you draw the kanji starting with the simple and moving up. "Shirabe Jisho" is a dictionary. Most important, Have Fun!!!

I also use Kanji Kohee to help with learning the meanings of Kanji.

I like to watch anime.
I enjoy learning to write the kanji by hand. Writing sentences I learned as well as just writing the individual Kanji in order to get the correct form.

I use NativShark. They introduce new vocabulary in sentences. They start you off with conversational Japanese rather than the formal. They have a one week free trial. I signed up for a year after just three days.

Most important enjoy yourself

I like that they introduce hiragana early. If want to go deeper, I would recommend NativShark. Also, Kanji Koohii for kanji meaning with mnemonics. Most importantly Enjoy!
