One of my best friends from high school, who died last fall, had a tradition of putting up a "flower wall" in front of his house in Colorado Springs. (As you can tell, he was good with plants.) His kids and a local neighborhood association are keeping that tradition going. Here's what it looks like.

I spent some time walking around downtown Santa Fe today, which I hadn't done for a while. Here's a shot of just a few of the hundreds of hand-painted windows inside the La Fonda Hotel.

I just met this comfort dog, whose beat is most of the wards in St. Vincent's hospital, where a relative is currently in for a few days. Maizy. I'm told, not surprisingly, that she's extremely popular around here.

Hi. Just sharing the greatest thing I've seen on Facebook in the past 100 years.

I don't know anything about behind-the-scenes books about presidents. Assuming this is true (I dunno), is it typical not to fact check with the central character in the book? www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

I've spent the past two days sorting the Outside magazine archive that's bound for Utah State.

Many have asked: Was there really a cover in 1979 showing Margaux Hemingway looking like she's going to make out with a fish? Yes. Yes there was.

Sad news. Jenny Irene Miller, the talented photographer who took this @outsidemag.bsky.social cover, died in a small plane crash in Alaska. Story: www.adn.com/alaska-news/...

Last thing I'll say about the New Yorker story on Outside. (Promise!) Working with Annette on this story was a life-changer. One principle the new company was supposed to value was making the outdoors safer and more welcoming to women. That goal inspired and drove Annette from the start.

@columjournreview.bsky.social just posted a story about recent upheavals at @outsidemag.bsky.social ... I wasn't there for the "no fly" order on political stories. Here's the corporate response to that allegation. www.cjr.org/news/outside...

Lawyers and other experts: the estate of Gene Hackman has asked a court in Santa Fe to seal records about the deaths of Hackman and Betsy Arakawa from public view.

My question: has anybody in other states heard of a similar request being made by an estate?

FWIW this isn't quite accurate. They didn't fire the editor in chief; they apparently eliminated the position. The new editor of Outside is called editorial director or something like that.

This is from a second story that appeared today, in GearJunkie. gearjunkie.com/outdoor/feud...

I also wasn't crazy about the accessory pictured to the left of her handbag and umbrella.

If there are really 60,000 cameras scanning the streets of New York at all time, why wasn't Carrie Bradshaw immediately arrested for this?

Trigger warning: don't look at this if you are easily upset by True Crime stories.

In the book I'm reading about the history of U.S. immigration law between 1924 and 1965, these Dem presidents come off best: Truman and LBJ.

Less so: FDR and JFK.

Inexplicably barely mentioned: Ike. This is the book, for those interested.

How do ya like the cover of the final issue of @outsidemag.bsky.social I worked on? I think it's really pretty and effective. @shailenewoodley.bsky.social is awesome.
