I’m back in Reno for the summer, cruising into these next weeks leading into turning 40 on the 27th with friends and fam. Work on pause. Every day is Friday after marathon gogogo

A quick visit to Palmer on the first true days of spring. And a friend donated a piece of her pant leg to patch up my running backpack, so I take that and — is this a TAN?! — back down south. Thank you, #Alaska!

Same street, different season. So fun to drop this commission off and see Maureen’s reaction this morning! It was her idea to step outside and grab these pics

Session one of a new commission in progress. Man, Anchorage has some of the best sunrises/sunsets.

Runs are getting slowly but surely longer. Active recovery thru plantar fasciitis while training for my first ultra, and of course it’s hard - that’s running - but it’s also exhilarating and euphoric - also, running.

Wrapping up one #painting, and starting a new one. Temps creeping into the dry 90s today, so going for those cooler climates…on canvas, at least. Pictured: a cave in Kentucky; Gates of the Arctic in Alaska.

#ontheeasel painting one kind of beauty from another. Cool how immersing myself in art can transport me.

I'd never heard of a "medium distance relationship". When I did, I immediately wondered if I'm in one.

Today I wrote about what it feels like to navigate intense times together in the 19' #Airstream, followed by extended periods apart.

Kind of want to keep my new porch/hangout spot as is. Do we reeeally need a roof and final wall…?

Wes is carefully measuring and drawing lines; I too am tearing my hair out (but we both have a nice view) #paintinginprogress #diy #offgrid

A little on the nose, but I feel you, tattered flag hanging on in the tail wind of a long haul trucker

I charge more for straight lines in commissioned paintings because of all the brain cells I lose while holding my breath 😂

fr tho - I can’t breathe when painting lines, and why am I suddenly lying down

This morning I was reflecting on how anxious I can get when it's time to hitch up and move. So I sat down to write about that, and other lesser-advertised parts of so-called "van life". alliharveyart.com/blog/ Enjoy!!

Yesterday: painting-in-progress & shed-in-progress. On the easel, to on the ground. At some point in my life I realized I was bored doing mostly one thing. Here we are.

Such an absurd thing with #running: I’m look forward to the long run ALL week.

Then the day dawns, and the first mile, and I’m dreading all the work even as I push forward; doing the mind game of every mile in after that, and it’s sweaty, sore; HARD.

And amazing. My brain explodes.

Repeat 😂

And we’re off! It’s #sunset in this work-in-progress commission.

First paint sesh of this commission! She tall (3 feet).

I started with gesso to smooth the canvas so paint will layer on more easily, and then I mixed paint hues in tubs so they won’t dry out. For me the only goal of setting brush to canvas the first time is to block out basic shapes/color.

(1 of 2) When I was at Escalante Canyons Arts Festival last year, a fellow acrylic painter whose work I loved asked me what types of acrylics I used. I said, “Oh, whatever’s cheapest at Michael’s.” She looked AGHAST.

Later, once she recovered, she rec’d I try better quality paints.

Early, early phases of training for my first ultra continued. Realizing that the mix of running and hiking demand more real food. I was happy but hungry at the end, didn’t want to drink calories.

An awesome day. If you’re ever in Kingman, AZ absolutely check out this loop!

New #painting! Progress pics + reference photo for fun.

This was one of the submitted pics for my January contest, and the gal who submitted decided to buy the completed painting! 10% of all proceeds from this and other contest related sales go to orgs aligned with my values: awe, dignity, doing.
