Black History month! Audre Lorde- American writer, professor, philosopher, intersectional feminist, poet and civil rights activist, "Black, lesbian, feminist, socialist, mother, warrior, poet." She believed there could be "no hierarchy of oppressions".

Tomorrow is President's Day. I'll be remembering a time I was proud of my president and had a hope. I'll be remembering President Obama and all he stood for.
It's black history month, and he so happened to be the first black president, serving two terms. Forever my president.

Black History Month! Robert Smalls, an enslaved black man, commandeered a Confederate ship and delivered its 16 black men, women and children passengers from slavery to freedom. He used his heroism to bolster a political career fighting for Civil Rights as a five term Congressman.

BHM! Henrietta Lacks was an African-American woman whose cervical cells have been immortalized in science and saved countless LIVES. Those cells were taken by Johns HOPKINS unknown to herself or her family. She passed at the young age of 31 from metastisized cancer and buried in an unmarked grave.

Last night I logged out. I took a much needed break. And watched my kids and their friends play music on stage. I watched kids from all backgrounds come together, support each other, and create something beautiful.

Today's black history month figure is Marsha P Johnson, the mother of PRIDE. Marsha was a lgbtq rights activist who fought vigilantly for the rights of the community.
