Isn’t this glorious? The Grenville Jewel, 1635-40. Oval locket; gold. The locket contains a miniature signed by David Des Granges of Sir Bevil Grenville (1596–1643), a Cornish Royalist general who was killed in 1643 in the English Civil War. It lives in the British Museum.
