If only we could figure out what could be causing this....

This video arose from a very brief written op-ed piece that was published today, in even more succinct edited form, in Semafor (link below). But I'm including the full, unedited version of my original thoughts here in the attached image. www.semafor.com/arti...

This is what we are fighting about?

Really?

It boggles the mind.

Meaning, the difference between light that has a frequency too low to be seen, with a wavelength ~7000 nanometers --

and the light with a frequency too high to be seen -- at about 4000 nanometers --

is a small fraction of the width of a human hair.

//// not ever ////

we are on the earth, _not of it_.

I guess people missed that part.

He could move to another country -- Russia, perhaps.

This would be viewed favorably by all Americans.

Dancing in the streets favorably.

Praise the Lord, and pass the butter, favorably.

They want to decimate anything not oil or coal -

- that part is clear.

Almost like Big Oil is the one calling the shots.

Precisely the point made in an essay over a decade ago.

Market cap of the fossil industry is in the dozens of trillions.

Moving that is by far the more difficult problem.

The engineering is trivial, by comparison.

Not because we can not - because we won't.

Abandoned wells that often would be viable geo-thermal when converted, using next-gen geo-thermal techniques.

Ironically, based on the same technology fracking for petroleum uses...

Like Fervo, for example.

Which is just another way of saying the _true cost of extraction_ is not actually reflected at consumption.

If damages to the planet _were included_ at the pump, there would, in fact, exist overwhelming market forces looking for zero-carbon alternatives - like solar, wind, geothermal, et cetera.

Possibly helpful, for context.

Posted a decade ago -- and sadly, more true now, than it was then:

We are letting the "low-hanging fruit" ( methane -- volatile, and 80x as effective as carbon-dioxide for trapping heat ) --

just rot in the field....
