Donald Trump has dined with neo-Nazi Holocaust Revisionists at Mar-a-Lago and saw 'very fine people on both sides' of an antisemitic riot in Charlottesville. He made it clear that Jews would be to blame if he lost the election. Now Trump is weaponizing, distorting and exploiting the reality of antisemitism to attack academic freedom and to try to control private and public universities and the nonprofit sector. Even Kenneth Stern, the lead drafter of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of antisemitism, is now saying that the sweeping MAGA antisemitism campaign is targeting speech, immigrant rights and democracy for political purposes and is making Jewish students feel less safe. The Senate should oppose Trump's further transparent moves to undermine American democracy under the banner of opposing antisemitism. Jamie Raskin

András Schiff is canceling his U.S. concerts for the next season, including dates in May 2026 with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Hungary-born British pianist and conductor said in a statement Wednesday that "due to the recent and unprecedented political changes in the United States, I feel morally obligated to withdraw from all engagements in the U.S. for the 2025-26 season. "Some people might say, 'just shut up and play? I cannot, in good conscience, do that," he wrote. "We do not live in an ivory tower where the arts are untouched by society. Arts and politics, arts and society are inseparable. Therefore, as artists, we must react to the horrors and injustices of this world. Have we learned nothing from the course of history — as recently as Europe in the 1930s? Perhaps not."

#BrokenTimes missing the point. The spectacle was ideal. That’s what we want from our representatives. Either Trump is a threat to democracy and a fascist or isn’t. If he is, act like it instead of waving signs. Strongly waving signs is not opposition. FFS, dems, grow a spine.
In Mr. Green’s case, he was not only challenging the president but also defying the entreaties of Democratic congressional leaders that members attend Mr. Trump’s speech and refrain from disruptions. The spectacle of a septuagenarian heckling the president while waving his cane was not ideal for Democrats, who have toiled to land on a broadly appealing message and messenger for countering Mr. Trump. Still, after being kicked out, Mr. Green told reporters at the Capitol that his protest was “worth it to let people know that there are some people who are going to stand up” to the president.

ACTION: Notice of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) vacatur. SUMMARY: Through this notice, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announces that the Secretary of Homeland Security (Secretary) has decided to vacate the January 10, 2025 decision of former Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas regarding TPS for Venezuela. Former Secretary Mayorkas (1) extended the 2023 designation of Venezuela for TPS for 18 months, (2) allowed a consolidation of filing processes such that all eligible Venezuela TPS beneficiaries (whether under the 2021 or 2023 designations) may obtain TPS through the same extension date of October 2, 2026, and (3) extended certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs ). All of this also had the effect of extending the 2021 designation. This notice vacates Mayorkas' notice immediately. DATES: The vacatur is effective immediately.
