elephant like memory for every national Dem who betrays DC <333
I really want one in Petworth, but thank you!

I don’t think teaching boys that financial success brings relationship success or that financial success is a measure of masculinity is good. Men can be good partners without being the breadwinner, and I think most hetero men (and some women) would benefit from learning that.

they're also flying lower than they used to.

the closing of Klingle road 😭

lol they stop for literally everything. that is part of the problem. I think a bigger risk is them stopping right in front of a car door someone opened so it can't go forward and they can't get out.

just make them a little taller and a little faster and put them in the street. most streets have way more passing room than sidewalks anyway.
November 30, 2025 at 5:34 PM
people having to step into the street is not safe, and fine if you are an able bodied adult not carrying anything, but many people who use sidewalks are not. a robot should not take the position of a little kid or person with a mobility device in the hierarchy of right of way.

my main compaint about the robot is that it is erratic, so it is like having a toddler on the sidewalk without an adult to contain it. it stops short, it starts, it veers left, it veers right, it stops again. if your sidewalk is not pristine or even it gets stuck.

that is why I don't think any bikes or scooters belong on the sidewalk. someone upthread said anything 10 mph or under should go on the sidewalk, and that is crazy to me because it is more than 3x faster what a pedestrian walks and you feel that difference as uncomfortable and unsafe (because it is)

we are operating in different realities. there are many complaints to make about moped delivery drivers in DC, but driving 30 mph on the sidewalk is just not one of them.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
I don't think there should be any adult bikes or scooters on sidewalks, but I have never seen anyone drive 30 mph on the sidewalk.

sidewalks are crowded and chaotic enough we don't need more things, they should be reserved for walkers, wheelchairs, children and pets. robots can go in the street.
November 30, 2025 at 3:31 PM
because in DC the speed limit is under 25 mph and mostly 20 mph unless it is a school zone and then it is 15
November 30, 2025 at 3:16 PM
it doesn't have to go three miles an hour.

we have had these in DC and even with much wider sidewalks their erratic behavior is more than a minor inconvenience when the sidewalk is busy or you're carrying groceries or pushing a stroller.

why can't the robot go in the road?
