At the Japanese Garden in Portland yesterday: two examples from an amazing exhibition of works by the Kintsugi artist Nakao Fukumaru (hurry, just a couple days left), and two moments from an icy garden stroll.

A cracked ceramic piece renewed using traditional Kintsugi techniques, with broken pieces joined using gold and lacquer, by Nakao Fukumaru at the Portland Japanese Garden. A Roman amphora underwater since some time around 200-400 CE, covered with centuries of sea life.
