By improving the integration of nutrient dynamics and crop models, we also improve our understanding of how climate-driven changes will affect and influence the ability for global populations to receive essential nutrients from the food they consume.

The paper also highlights the limited availability of comprehensive datasets beyond staple crops and calls for collaborative research among climate scientists, farmers, crop modelers, plant biologists, and public health nutrition practitioners to safeguard nutrition under climate uncertainty.

Carducci & Guarin et al. highlight the importance of integrating nutrient dynamics into process-based crop models by using a new framework to better represent plant nutrient uptake from the soil, nutrient translocation across the plant, and eventual micronutrient concentration in edible products.

Convening researchers in GHG emissions, rice modeling, agronomy, spatial science, and remote sensing to address challenges in CH4 data and mitigation assessment, the workshop promotes cross-disciplinary learning on best practices for CH4 measurement and modeling across organizations and countries.

This initiative is jointly led by @irriofficial.bsky.social, #AgMIP, and the Global Methane Hub (GMH), in partnership with @cgiar.org Climate Action and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan.

Workshop participants include experts from Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zimbabwe. The Science-to-Policy workshop's outcomes are expected to have relevance for countries throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
