On this date in 1890, Harvard Law Review published "The Right to Privacy" by Louis Brandeis and Samuel D. Warren. I wonder if written today, instead of asserting "the right to be let alone," it would just be able to muster a case for "the right to whistle in the wind."

Thanks to UW Magazine for covering my book about Elise Olmstead, Seattle's so-called Queen of the Bootleggers. The 100th anniversary of the Nation's first wiretap trial in a few weeks away and Elise was the only woman on trial with Roy and 90 of his cohorts!

On this date in 1890, the Harvard Law Review published "The Right to Privacy" by Brandeis & Warren. It was 7222 words long, but this short phrase by Brandeis summarized the point of the article to perfection: privacy is the right "to be let alone."
