The Swimming Pool Library by Alan Hollinghurst and at least so far, no I wouldn't really recommend it. It is well written, but (personally) I don't care for most of the characters and the story is slow to develop. Reading it for one of my bookclubs....

Started high school in 1976 and am still tired of Led Zeppelin 45+ years later. Like Immigrant Song and don't hate Black Dog as much now, but would be happy if I never heard them again.

They've also forced out many of the mainstream republicans who had a clue about policy or how government works. Mitt Romney is retiring - Marjorie Taylor Green isn't.

My first thought was "What does the Genesis album ABACAB have to do with any of this?"

Hadn't thought about this in years, but I saw the Bus Boys do a cover of Brown Sugar live decades ago. I'm not quite sure what I think about it...

If I recall, the Thongor and Green Star books were about as original.

I haven't re-read it in decades, but as a teenager I really liked Lin Carter's Tolkien: A Look Behind The Lord of the Rings. At the time, there were very few books available about fantasy - it was both informative and readable.

Sorry, but no - it was established decades ago that everything is my fault (with the exception of one brother-in-law - there are limits).

Chaos but a Midwestern, vaguely polite chaos that won't keep too many people up all night.

From The Economist (August 3rd, 2019):

Correction: In "Pastures old" in our issue of July 27th, we accidentally merged two regiments, referring to the "regimental goat of the Royal Welsh Guards". It belongs to the Royal Welsh, not to the Welsh Guards. Our apologies to both regiments, and the goat.

Not really disagreeing with you, but I find myself consistently underestimating the breadth and depth of ignorance in this country.

Of course, I also often have trouble separating ignorance from dishonesty and/or malevolence.
