I get the reasoning why people might not like "American" but also using that demonym seems totally reasonable. Many countries have an official name structured like [form of government] of [place] and just get called by the place.

Federal Republic of Germany
United Mexican States
French Republic

Seems like this makes it extra important to address housing cost in certain cities where there are lots of national media members/entertainers?

Local crisis -> me and my friends have trouble with housing -> prominent people post/write about economic problems -> wow everyone thinks the economy sucks

It was much better than people give it credit for and if you had access, there was a ton of stuff available.

(It also had a weirdly patronizing tone on the commentary for a lot of women's sports, but it was slowly getting better.)

Ehhh the food is solid but the overall setup is a little over the top and it'd be nice if they had some halfway decent vegetable options

There's never more than 24 months to the next election! If you can't try to fix something because it's 18 months until the next one that's just saying you should never fix it.

18 months from midterms and 42 months from president actually seems like a great time to work on a long term project.

It's his regular warmup song

Besides Ohtani there are a few other guys who can do it a little bit, but it's just not really as valuable as in cricket

I think it's just so geared to rotational strength rather than pushing or endurance or speed or anything else running, they end up super thick and it looks more normal?

Tbh I think I care more about these last couple Kershaw games than almost anything before the world series

Could that get shifted slightly by updating park factors effects after next year?

The VAR offsides problem is when you pause a moving image and get so-so image quality, people disagree about what the "right" call is because the image just isn't that clear. But when you computer animate it and make it as sharp as you want, it *looks* clear even if it's within a margin of error.

Kinetic energy is just 1/2*mass*velo^2, so assuming the output weight/speeds are correct the ranking isn't correct. At least Derrick Henry is higher, haven't checked through the rest.

Maybe this is silly, but I might even say Ohtani is Ohtani but Kershaw is a Dodger?

I've always had one small confusion about blaming this chart on inflation. It looks like incumbents did ~okay in 2022 where there would still be a decently high amount of inflation? Maybe some of those elections were earlier in the year?

It's believable but that one part of the story seems missing.

It often seems like the ones people actually get sent off for are more accidental than some of the violent play that gets yellow/simple fouls. I almost wouldn't mind not giving a red there (except obviously then you'd get more of them, intentionally).

There's also a difference when the "good" regular season is low 90s wins vs 100+ wins. The dodgers won 100+ games 4 of the last 5 full seasons and 98 in the one they missed. It doesn't seem unreasonable to say that getting significantly worse is a disappointing season?

Slight concern that a random guy who throws moderately hard but has zero command might actually be a little dangerous for the hitters.

Just need MLB to force teams to accept the non-existent risk of position players actually trying to pitch and say they need a minimum velo or it's a ball.

Kinda wonder if that ball spot is really placed in a reasonable location or if the calculation is messed up by the pitch coming in at 45

The only problem is some shows are just the version that airs on PBS and are questionably edited. I remember watching Endeavour (original runtime ~89 min, PBS runtime ~82 min) and occasionally being confused about something that seemed to be missing only to then find it in the original.

I guess I'm a little confused about the metric that makes Caltrain better than BART, because as a Bay area resident they've both been predominantly useful just for getting to SF and not super useful for more local stuff?
