Not entirely. Democrats were (and maybe still are) slow to appreciate the importance of the president’s power of appointment to the judiciary in deciding who to vote for or whether to vote at all.

Hypocrisy is a given at this point. As soon as Dems are able to loudly and widely communicate that GOP talking is bs because they’ll change what they say 10 minutes later if it suits their convenience. Saying it here is just preaching to the choir.

Can you demonstrate profitability?

Not baffling at all. This is what happens when you don’t get your message out clearly, consistently, and aggressively to voters you’re trying to reach.

3. The importance of the judiciary and the power of the president’s nominating power.

4. The recognition of the growing power of social media over legacy media in reaching voters where they are.

I would really like to get ahead of the curve for a change. 2/2

Dems in the past have been late in realizing important trends in a timely manner. For example:

1. The importance in voting in every election, not just in presidential years.

2. The importance of down ballot races. 1/2

Agreed. If the incoming administration is truly a fascist threat, then act like it.

Well said.

Dems always seem to operate that good policy =good politics. That only works when successes are messaged in a unified and aggressive fashion. Modesty doesn’t work when up against a powerful right wing media apparatus.

We need unified and aggressive messaging.
November 17, 2024 at 4:14 AM
We definitely need more like that
November 17, 2024 at 4:11 AM
Generally agree. Messaging/communication strategy and leadership needs to change.
November 15, 2024 at 1:31 PM
Dems need new, more aggressive senate leadership

I'm not smart enough to know the answers, but I fear that repeating the same answers to these issues as in the past will not yield a positive outcome. 14/14

3. Democratic leadership in the leadership in the senate must change. It must get younger and nimbler and more aggressive in its messaging strategy. 13/14
November 13, 2024 at 10:49 PM
2. Bipartisanship is a wonderful thing, but until there is a non-MAGA GOP its value is very limited. I cannot have a normal dialogue with people who are ok with voting for a racist and misogynist. If there are indeed more of us than them, let's prove it by bringing them back into the fold. 12/14

Conclusions: 1} Democratic messaging strategy must change and adapt to the way voters get information. There must be a way to pierce the echo chamber. There's no acceptable reason for a dropoff of 10+ million democratic voters from 2020, not when the stakes were as high as they were. 11/14

Examples:

It took Merrick Garland way too long to investigate those at the heart of the Jan 6 insurrection. As a result, Trump has in all likelihood escaped accountability.

I don't understand why Durban kept honoring blue slips. 10/14

Finally, bipartisanship is a wonderful concept but I think For both the Administration and Democrats in the US Senate the results are often the equivalent of taking a knife to a gun fight. 9/14

We now seem to be late in the recognition of how the right's ability to control a very large disinformation echo chamber drowns out our message. Maybe we forgot Mark Twain's adage about "a lie going halfway around the world while the truth puts on its shoes". 8/14
November 13, 2024 at 10:49 PM
The left had been late to recognize the importance of the effect that the president's ability to nominate has on the judiciary, and the resulting effect that has on our rights (ie Shelby County & Dobbs cases). 7/14
November 13, 2024 at 10:49 PM
The right's echo chamber will blame everybody but themselves. The 2030 midterms (a census year) could be a disaster reminiscent of 2010. 6/14
