My bank lets me download all of my transactions for a given account from their website. There's like a documents section that I can generate the export from.

Might could even get CSV dumps from your bank and load them in that way

I used to love mint as well. I switched to rocket money after it got gobbled up. the hardest part with the build your own app approach would likely be bank integrations.

They are similar to objects in JS, but the major difference I encountered is it doesn't allow you to have values of different types in the same hashmap. So you can't store a number for one key and a string for a number. There are ways around this, but it added a ton of bloat.

Never. But also because I wouldn't trust a LinkedIn post to tell me everything about X. A conference talk for a summary? Sure. An article written by a field expert? Sure. A try-hard LinkedIn post? Nope.
