I remember chatting with someone who used to play WFB before switching to warmachine and when they mentioned the "no premeasuring" thing I was floored

Sure, it makes the Thunder Hawk and the Crucible and that one studid Shadow Cat that's like 25% gauss rifle by crit count significantly worse but the actual risk in most cases is worth the increase in variability imo.

It's actually lower than the chance to ammo kill a mech with a single bin of CT ammo and all other slots innert (5.1%) with a RAW TAC. Yeah your chances starts getting grimmer when you see that "8" for location but there are 31 combinations on 2d6 that keep you out of the side torso.

The chance of the LT gauss kill specifically is about 4.2% off of a given TAC. That's including the chance to hit the location roll, hitting 1, 2, or 3 crits, and the increasing chance to hit the gauss as you hit other components. The only thing I didn't account for is the chance of triple engine.

That's way higher than the .25% chance of instant engine kill off a RAW tac but it's also still pretty unlikely shot to shot and I'd prefer just pulling the piece over floundering with a fucked gyro in most cases.

Math might be wrong but using the banshee 5S example, the chance of a TAC converting either a cockpit kill or ammo kill is about 5.7% due to still rolling to crit number/location.

I like floating crits due to the fact that it tends to make TACs less homogenous than engine, gyro, or the 1/6-1/11 chance of getting a different treat in most cases and just took the gauss bomb issue as CoDB.

It's also 25% cheaper because it's lower quality and fewer items. Idk maybe I'm just not in the "buying everything I need to make carbonara including the pan" demographic but I that's the most comically obvious shrinkflstion of all time

Sure but the hardware in those data centers is basically a consumable resource. If none of these companies find a path to profitability then what do they do when the bill on burnt out GPUs starts coming due?

Yeah shorting the bubble at this point is less about the "if" and more about nailing down the "when" so you can actually catch the falling knife before you get blown out by the short interest

I said *more* good 40 tonners. The cicada is fine once they figured out how to put an XL engine in it and refrain from doing goofy nonsense with an ultra-5.
Vulcan, Clint, Sentinel, and Assassin all remain deep in hell

Please let this mean we get another one that's OK I hunger for more 40 ton mechs worth taking
