That is, sadly, the most likely cause to this massive mess. Everyone felt entitled to free stuff from day one. We own-goaled.

Yep. That's my point. They don't need to tank.
The expansion team will pay each team a 1/30th share of $3-5bn while moving a team doesn't pay anything to move. So the other owners will not sign off on the move to Vegas.
