So where in this case the defendants were found actively not guilty of Aggravated Burglary, shouldn't the charge of basic Burglary have been considered? (or might it still be? or would double jeopardy at this point?)

I may not have explained my question well. Using GBH as the example - Would jurors have been asked to decide G/NG on ONLY s18 or would they also have been asked to consider the lesser s20 offence? In short, was a guilty verdict for s20 a possible outcome of the trial?

I’ve realised how ignorant I am about court process.
Did the jury have the option/ability to return lesser verdicts (e.g. burglary vs aggravated, ABH vs s20 vs s18), or was it all-or-nothing?
