I could spend hours in front of these exploring them from different angles.

Each angle the light catches the feathers from brings out different colours in the feathers, creating a very different emotional response.

What's cheerful from one angle is moody and oppressive from another.

Maybe the Painted Man will return 😄 I was thinking "what do I need to do to make this more palatable?" But maybe I actually need to lean into the horror of it 😂

Oh I absolutely agree. I think increasingly art and creativity are regarded as frivolous, or only valued if they draw money. Increasingly we hear voices outright hostile to the arts.

It's upsetting, and I also wonder how people end up feeling that way. Who is it they feel they need to punish?

... Viewers found it terrifying and hated it. I only did it the once 😂

I love that stuff! I tried something similar once in one of my painting streams. At a random point the words "the painted man appears" would flash on the screen. I'd cover myself in paint of a colour the audience chose and then vibe off of that colour for five minutes before returning to normal...

They had this show they used to do where they'd come to your house and perform a séance. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen and it definitely had this vibe of "I don't know what this is or where it's going but I'm spellbound"

I remember seeing an improv group here in Bristol who would just play with whatever idea they were finding fun and if a plot direction ceased to be interesting they'd just forget it.

The stories would go in these wonderful unpredictable directions and halfway through I'd just forget where I was 😄
