I think you missed the point of what he said. I agree we shouldn’t be mocking people, but we also shouldn’t be bending over backwards to get the vote of someone who was gonna vote for us anyway. Democracy means no one gets everything they want

Not sure how your first sentence (which I obviously agree with) leads to the second. I don’t think he’s using him as a showcase. I do agree with @jamellebouie.net that Matt is underplaying the degree of racial discrimination that is happening under the auspices of “DEI”…

He didn’t say that Donald trump was not a racist though…in fact he said he understands why people feel that way. I’m not sure there’s any dissonance here - just pointing out that over a long period of time the bar for “being racist” has changed (which is good)
