Tracy Chapman is in terrific voice. She still has that utterly distinctive sound like smoked velvet, and seeing her grin like she was surprised by the strength of the response to her was just … that was cool.

The reason I can never quit Taylor Swift, no matter how over-exposed she becomes, is because she has a particular, "I MUST RECORD 17 ALBUMS TOMORROW IN CASE I DIE WEDNESDAY" energy that I find intensely relatable. I haven't written a novel yet this year, and that makes me a FAILURE.
