Big Hops was generally cozy with a spark of something far more interesting right toward the end of the demo. Has a lot of potential and definitely keeping my eye on this one, it has an identity for itself and that matters the most for this genre than trying to be the most polished out there.

It's cool to see hack and slash games from smaller independent studios and I think Homura Hime could be neat, but it needs a *lot* more time in the oven for polish. Platforming feels too stiff and the moveset feels like it needs more. The boss fight shows the flashy potential this has however.

holy shit a mirror's edge-like
Motorslice has a really wonderful somber atmosphere that's also simultaneously beautiful thanks to excellent lighting and ambience. Understands what made Mirror's Edge in particular such a memorable parkour game not just from movement but from its sense of place.

The aesthetic to Silly Polly Beast is great and the initial story hook was intriguing, but feels like its trying to be too many things at once. Combat didn't click for me with how enemies behaved and the extremely tight ammo system. The scare stinger sound is way too loud and needlessly annoying.

Any notes I have about Skate Story would be better served by just telling you to play the demo yourself. This has potential to be a GOTY contender, loved absolutely every second of this and am excitedly waiting for launch day. Has also made me obsessed with Blood Cultures’ music.

Powerwash Simulator 2 is just more of the same but much more vibrant and colorful, the tools are more effective and satisfying, and the levels are much more reactive and interactive. Already figured I'd be getting this around launch.

Mind giving a hand? Or maybe something more?

Another wonderful sketch from @deaddragonp.bsky.social, thank you again!

It's definitely better than the OG Switch version in that it runs properly and loads at a reasonable time, but it's still going to be disappointing coming from PS5/PC. My screenshots are 1080p because I have a cheap EVGA capture card so not as sharp, but here's a quick comparison from Switch 2/1/PC

Journey Up (VR)

Instead of being a nice cozy climbing game that benefits from VR immersion and direct control, it's one of those stupid fucking YouTuber climb or fall all the way to the bottom anger tests that now happens to be in VR. Did not do itself any favors when I kept clipping into floors.

Ploko (VR)

A diorama builder in VR has real potential, but it's also a little *too* simplistic especially with how it tells you where to plop parts. Feels like a VRChat world. I could see something way cooler if this played with scale; you're in VR, use it to your advantage!

Wet VR

I figured I should try VR demos this time around! This was kinda cute, but admittedly I don't think VR really elevates the experience; I feel like I've played puzzle games like this. Also quite literally there needs to be a height option, because I was sitting on the floor to play this one.

Switchblade

I think there's something potentially here because it feels *good* to get a hold of how you drift around and use your momentum to your advantage, but the camera and readability issues kill it right now. Fast reactions are one thing, but you need frame accuracy to see what's coming

Axyn Adventure

ok so legitimately i actually need to do a more proper round 2 on this because i played this at like 2am and was not expecting this to be a real ass genuine proper 3D platformer with great controls and exploration; did not finish this so expect another note later

AFTERBLAST

Roguelites are an insanely saturated genre and there's just too many other shooters within it that are more interesting to me than this. No map with how samey the rooms and art look doesn't do it any favors. The HUD and text are scaled WAY too small. Just didn't click for me.

Streetdog BMX

I think this will have an audience with the Skater XL/Session fans and less so Tony Hawk or skate. fans by how it emphasizes a maximalist control scheme and the heavy incredibly fast physics. It's neat and there's potential to its sandbox but not my jam.

Recharge and MechaKnight Legends

Lumping these two together because they're both essentially concept demos and not even remotely finished. Recharge cares too much about being on UE5, MechaKnight needs to find its mechanical gameplay loop.

Ruffy and the Riverside

Remembered seeing this on social media a while back and thought the concept was cool. It IS cool as hell, and just in general *everything* about this is so incredibly unique and brimming with cheerful excitement. Less a precision platformer and more playful puzzle sandbox.

Deliver At All Costs

Did not live up to the initial trailer. When there *is* destruction and chaos it's highly entertaining and impressive, but it's a more story focused than I was expecting and it's *really* meandering. Could not stand the writing and dialogue.
